Appearance: Dark brown colour, variable clarity. Nose: The bouquet develops aromas of ripe fruit and stone fruit, accompanied by hints of citrus, rosemary and liquorice. Deeper notes of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and nutmeg emerge on aeration, although the alcohol can at times veil some of the finer nuances. Palate: The attack combines flavours of robusta coffee, dark chocolate and sweet spices such as nutmeg and cloves. Hints of orange, cola and dried fruit appear on the mid-palate, supported by a marked sweetness. Overall impression: A well-crafted, pleasant spirit with a good balance of sweetness, bitterness and roasted notes. The dried fruit, citrus and spice aromas add richness, but the whole remains slightly dominated by sugar and lacks depth on the finish.
