Appearance: A deep, clear amber colour. Nose: The aromas are predominantly oaky, with notes of caramel, vanilla and toffee, as well as hints of red fruit and spices. Palate: The attack is soft and oily, developing caramel and fresh cane flavours that add a certain sweetness. The texture is noticeably astringent with pronounced tannins, while the influence of wood dominates through to the finish. The length remains satisfactory, with persistent notes of prunes and rancio. Overall impression: A spirit with a certain complexity but suffering from a predominant woodiness that masks some of its intrinsic qualities.
